In March 2026 town meeting authorized town officials to take steps toward establishing a town forest. The conservation commission voted in July to form a committee to do the necessary work of creating a warrant article to establish the forest for the 2027 or (more likely) 2028 town meeting.

The committee will have an organizational meeting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Wilmot Public Library, 11 North Wilmot Road, Wilmot, NH 03287. The public is invited.
