Green Up Wilmot 2021

Greetings Wilmot friends and neighbors,

The snow banks have disappeared from the road sides — and that means it must be SPRING! It’s time for Green Up Wilmot.

This year’s townwide cleanup – the fifteenth – will be from May 1 through May 31.

The event, sponsored by the Wilmot Community Association and the Town of Wilmot, ensures roadsides throughout town will look wonderful this summer. Thank you in advance for doing your bit to tidy up the town!

This year, in light of the continuing COVID-19 crisis, we are encouraging families to work as teams. Please follow the CDC’s social-distancing guidelines.

Blue bags will be available outside the town office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays during the campaign. Plastic grocery bags and five-gallon buckets also are easy-to-use trash-gathering containers.

Here’s the drill:

  1. Choose a stretch of road.
  2. Let Ann Davis, woodswithoutgile@tds.net, know which one/ones you’ve chosen.
  3. When feasible, please segregate glass and aluminum from trash so those materials can be recycled.
  4. Take your trash and treasures to the Transfer Station during normal hours of operation on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
  5. Safety first:
    1. Wear bright clothing so motorists can see you. Safety reflectors are good, too, if you have them.
    2. If you drive to a spot along the road, work in front of your vehicle and turn on your hazard lights to alert drivers to slow down.
    3. Wear gloves.
