Meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. in the Town Office Building. Present: Chairman Ken Grossman, Vice-Chairman Brian Faughnan, Secretary Janet Howe, Selectman Kenny Clarke, Alt. Geoff Lizotte and new member John Bowman. Also present Tim Wallace.
Selectman Clarke swore in John Bowman. Motion was made and unanimously passed to make Geoff Lizotte a full member of the Commission and assign John Bowman as an alternate.
Minutes of May 10 were approved as submitted.
Correspondence:
Letter from Friends of the No. Rail Trail asking for support
Note from Gail Matthews to Richard Lee thanking him for the Newsletter
DES permit for Town of Wilmot to repair Kearsarge Valley bridge. There will be a special town meeting to approve the funding for the work.
Old Business:
Dredge and Fill procedures: Agreed that Ken G. will work on a draft which we will review and revise at our July meeting. Acknowledging that mistakes have been made in interacting with land owners, the procedures will guide us to a consistent approach when reviewing dredge and fill applications.
Scott Brody, owner of Camps Evergreen and Kenwood on Eagle Pond and the largest user of this resource, met with the Commission and stated his desire to be a good steward of the pond. The history of previous problems was traced. Work needs to be done to repair an old retaining wall, and the WCC advised him that hiring a qualified engineer would be the surest way of having the work done properly.
Conservation Plan:
Geoff Lizotte distributed his draft outline of the section “land conservation priorities” with a list of criteria for identifying areas of value for conservation in Wilmot. Geoff had also reviewed the criteria of 3 others towns and submitted his report on that research. The commission members will study it and make suggestions at the next meeting.
Reports:
No report from Selectmen
Planning Board: Geoff and Brian will attend the workshop meeting on June 18 to outline the conservation plan. The continuing issue of communication with the Planning Board was discussed, and Kenny C. suggested that it would be helpful if someone from the Planning Board could serve on the WCC as an ex-officio member. We will continue to ask to be involved early in the subdivision process and be given copies of preliminary plot plans. Janet will attend the Planning Board meeting on July 2.
Meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Janet Howe, Secretary
