REPORT OF OVERSEER OF PUBLIC WELFARE
The year 2004 brought illness concerns to too many of our citizens. The Town was able to help in all cases along with other charitable organizations. We are grateful for the support of our churches, Cross Fund and neighbors who contributed to the Food Bank. If you are eligible, remember to sign up with Community Action for fuel assistance. If you need help, call me any day at 526-686 for guidance and support.
Three Cheers to: Connie Jordan, Nancy Barthol, Barbara Sanborn, Brenda and Bruce Snyder, Rhonda Gauthier, Gail Matthews, Marie Paceta, Loretta and Gary Zuger, Lynn Soloman and her young bakers, Deacons of Wilmot Baptist Church, the Ladies of the Congregational Church of Wilmot, Cricentis Market, the Masons and others who donated turkeys…..Especially to Tootie Fleury, Mary Kay and Lee Huntoon who gave up their Christmas Eve day to help me pack and deliver to 35 households this year. We presented baskets of homemade goodies, chickens or turkeys or hams to the people around town that we thought needed cheer at Christmas. This included the sick, the elderly, the lonely and indigent. Their appreciation echoes around town.
The Gifts for Children and Families program was superbly manage by Jennifer Lockwood and Brenda Snyder. Were you one of the 30 donors who purchased gifts to eet the wish lists of the donees? Thank you all for your generosity of spirit in making this project successful year after year. We salute all our good neighbors and friends. We want to express our grateful appreciation to Jennifer and Brenda for the huge task they performed so well.
Finally, don’t forget that the WILMOT FOOD BANK is locate at the Town Office and is available year round to all Wilmot residents, no questions asked. Thanks to the Fire Department for their bountiful donation and to all others who have brought good canned food for the shelves. You can best share with others by bringing items such as stews, hearty soups, canned fish, ham, chicken, other one-meal packs, and canned fruits.
