Wilmot Police Department Report for 2004

2004 was a busy year for the Wilmot Police Department.
The Department hired Officer Tom Anderson; Officer Anderson lives in Springfield and is employed fulltime as a Detective with the New London Police Department. I welcome Officer Anderson to the Department.
The Wilmot Police Department, through a State grant received and was trained on a Zoll AED Plus, automated external defibrillator, to provide emergency defibrillation in cardiac arrests; the defibrillator is carried in the cruiser. Also with funding from a Homeland Security grant a “ radio repeater” was installed in town, which rebroadcasts radio transmissions to New London Dispatch. This repeater greatly improves radio communications when an officer is out of the cruiser and on a portable radio. The Police Department is also in the process of obtaining a Town radio frequency dedicated to the use of Police, Fire and Highway Departments, to enhance communications during emergencies.

I again would like to recognize and thank all of the other departments in town. The highway department, fire department and FAST squads are valuable assets to our community and we could not do our job without their assistance and cooperation.
You are reminded to please post your house number in a visible location in case we have to respond to your residence in an emergency.

Please contact us with your questions, concerns or suggestions at 526-2646 or e-mail wilmotpd@tds.net.

The following is an outline of our activity for the year.

Respectfully Submitted,

Chief David White
Officer Karl Bjorklund
Officer Tom Anderson
